Author Interview–Leslie Kelly @lesliekelly

Who is your favorite author?

Stephen King. The Stand is one of my two favorite books, the other being A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving

What book genre of books do you adore?

Horror. I know it’s weird since I write romance and thrillers, but straight horror is my thing. I also really like historical fiction, and non-fiction.

What book should everybody read at least once?

I think every woman should read Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Sometimes I read what’s going on in this world right now, how women and girls are being treated, and that book comes right to the front of my mind.

Is there any books you really don’t enjoy?

There might be individual books I don’t like, but I can’t say there’s an entire genre I dislike. Well, wait, maybe Oprah books? I don’t like books that have beautiful words but no real story. Books that manipulate you only book-club picks. (Except East of Eden–I LOVED that book. Oh, and Pillars of the Earth–I loved that one too!)

What do you hope your obituary will say about you?

“She and her husband lived a long and happy life together, surrounded by their beautiful, healthy children and grandchildren. And she wrote some books.”
