Author Interview - Stan Spencer @DrStanSpencer

How did you come up with the title?
I did an internet survey, got about 30 recommendations, didn’t like any of them, and came up with my own out of nowhere.
Can you tell us about your main character?
My main character is you. You are a good person. You are trying your best but are being held back by lack of practical information. When you are presented with simple, realistic solutions to your challenges, you are able to make real, positive changes in your life.
How did you develop your plot and characters?
I don’t. I give you the information you need in a usable form, and you develop yourself.
Who designed the cover?
Tina MV Campbell, freelancer. She was wonderful.
Who is your publisher?
Fine Life Books.
Why did you choose to write this particular book?
Excess body weight is one of the biggest challenges of our time. When I see a big challenge, I want to help out.
What was the hardest part about writing this book?
The actual writing. I have writer’s block 95% of the time, and not much talent, but a lot of determination. My high school English teacher would tell me there’s no such thing as good writing — only good rewriting. For me, it doesn’t get good until the 4th or 5th rewrite. Part of the problem is I’m a perfectionist. Three cycles of professional editing helped.
Did you learn anything from writing this book and what was it?
Almost everything in the book is new to me – insights into nutrition, exercise, psychology.
How do you promote this book?
I have promoted it mostly with KDP Select at Amazon.
Will you write others in this same genre?
I will write more self-help books.
How much of the book is realistic?
100%
