Author Interview – Marcy Waldenville

Do you find time to read? I read every night before I go to sleep. It’s my way to decompress.

What is your favorite color? It depends on the context. I wear a lot of pink, because of my coloring. I seem to be leaning toward blue/greens on my inside of my house (which I admit to painting every other year or so because I get bored with them) and I love bright colors outside; blues, greens, bright white and yellows. My front yard is completely surrounded by a flower garden. And I like red cars.

When did you first know you could write? My junior year of high school. We had to write a short story for an English class and the teacher chose mine to read aloud to the class. I looked around as she was reading and all the girls (it was an all-girl class at that time) were sitting on the edge of their seats and listening so closely. I thought… this is so cool. They are enjoying my story. Afterward, the teach encouraged me to continue writing and I did.

Is your family supportive? Do your friends support you? My family has always been very supportive. My mother saw me publish several short stories before she passed away and she was very proud of that. My kids grew up with me writing and got use to me working at home. It was the best of both worlds for them. As for my friends… my best friend is a writers, in fact, most of my closest friends are writer. They definitely understand me best.

What other jobs have you had in your life? Well, I still council as a psychic/medium. But I have worked in retail, selling Amish-made furniture. I was a night watch-person and a worked in a slaughter house. I am definitely happiest with my clients and my characters.

If you could study any subject at a university what would it be? Probably psychology or criminal sciences. But it would all end up in the writing anyway.
